Guest Speaker info: Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve is located in Portsmouth, VA. Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve was established in 1997 through the effort of local citizens, who for two years negotiated with state and city officials for the right to protect this beautiful 147-acre site from future development. The officials agreed but with a condition that those involved assume full financial responsibility for building, managing, and operating the preserve as a nature center. The Hoffler Creek Wildlife Foundation accepted the challenge. Randi Strutton, Executive Director, will present a fascinating program chronicling this amazing grass roots initiative.
